FAQ’s

Brisbane Gun Club Frequently Asked Questions, here, you’ll find answers to the most common questions we receive. Whether you’re looking for information on our services, policies, or how to get started, we’re here to help. If you don’t see your question below, feel free to reach out – our team is always ready to assist!

Do I need a firearms license?

If you make a booking at the club for a Come & Try experience, you do not need a firearms license. Full coaching, equipment and supervision is provided as part of the experience.

Can my children also enjoy clay target shooting?

In Queensland, children from age 11 can start to participate in clay target shooting. Not only does clay target shooting promote a healthy and active lifestyle, it also teaches discipline, concentration and most importantly, respect for firearms. Brisbane Gun Club’s instructors have taught many children and are always accommodating and helpful.

What do I have to bring with me?

Brisbane Gun Club requires all unlicensed shooters to bring current photo identification (driver license, passport or proof of age card). Participants must wear closed in shoes. Sleeveless shirts (singlets) are not permitted on the range. Remember, clay target shooting is an outdoor sport – bring along a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.

What is involved?

Upon arrival, proceed to the clubhouse and you will be greeted by one of Brisbane Gun Club’s friendly staff members or volunteers. You will be asked some questions and will have to sign the range registers.

Then it’s time to head back outside and meet your instructors who will run through the basics of clay target shooting. Safety at Brisbane Gun Club is of the utmost importance and your instructors will teach you how to safely handle and fire a shotgun.

Once the formalities have been completed, it’s time for nothing but fun!

Your individual instructor will guide you through calling for and shooting your first clay target. As you say “pull” a target will be released and the rest is up to you. Enjoy and good luck!

How much does a Come & Try experience cost?

Brisbane Gun Club offers inexperienced shooters a full package consisting of one-on-one coaching, ammunition, one round of 20 targets, hearing protection, gun hire and range fees for a total of $85.

When is the club available to coach me or hold an event?
Bookings for coaching, group events and parties are taken for Saturdays.

Brisbane Gun Club also hosts corporate events on weekdays – phone the club to inquire.

Do I have to make a booking?
Yes! Brisbane Gun Club prides itself on being a busy club. The Come & Try experience is only available on Saturdays and is usually booked out weeks in advance. Don’t wait, book online via our BGC website where you can select the day and time that suits you.
